Fees, Insurance, and Payment

I try to make the financial side of therapy as clear and straightforward as possible. Here's what you need to know.

Session Fee

My fee for a standard 45-minute therapy session is $280. This is similar to what other licensed psychologists in the Atlanta area charge for comparable care.

Full payment is due at the time of each session. After each appointment, I'll provide the documentation needed to submit a claim for reimbursement to your insurance company.

Insurance and Out-of-Network Benefits

I am an out-of-network provider for all insurance plans, which means I don't bill insurers directly. Depending on your plan, however, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement through your out-of-network mental health benefits. I am happy to provide you with documentation to file for insurance reimbursement.

I have opted-out of Medicare, which means Medicare will not reimburse clients for my fees.

You can get information about your specific plan directly from the company

Some people like to call their insurance company before scheduling the appointment to get specific information about their out-of-network coverage. The number is usually on the back of your card.

Here are some useful questions to ask:

  • Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?

  • What is my out-of-network deductible, and how much of it have I met this year?

  • What percentage of the fee will be reimbursed after the deductible is met? And are there any limits such as a “customary fee” limit?

  • Is there an annual session limit for out-of-network mental health services?

  • What documentation do I need to submit for reimbursement?

Other Payment Options

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)

Psychotherapy with a licensed provider is typically an eligible FSA expense. Check with your plan administrator to confirm.

Health Savings Accounts (HSA)

HSA funds can generally be used for psychotherapy as well.

Choosing Not to Use Insurance

Some people prefer not to run therapy through their insurance for privacy reasons. That's a completely reasonable choice.

Accepted Payment Methods

I accept cash, personal checks, and all major credit cards. Your card number is stored securely, and you don’t need to present the card at each session.

Cancellation Policy

I ask that you provide at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations or missed appointments without sufficient notice will be charged for the full session fee.

Have Questions?

I am happy to talk through any questions you have about fees, payment, or how to use your insurance benefits before we schedule a session. Figuring out the financial side of therapy should not be a barrier to getting started, and I want to make sure you have the information you need to move forward with confidence.

Free 15-Minute Consultation

I offer a brief phone call if you would like one before scheduling your first appointment. This is a chance to ask questions, talk about what you're dealing with, and get a sense for whether my practice is the right fit.
